In June, I fly to New York, to spend a week with my friend Maria and her family, before meeting up with my friend Claire to do some sight seeing. I had a great time in Schenectady catching up on news, meeting Maria's friends, doing Frozen puzzles, sorting out her IT issues, going to a court hearing and enjoying a trip to a natural spring spa. Thank you to the Haases for, once again, making me feel so welcome.
My second week saw me visiting the following places:
- Manhatten's Empire State Building, Grand Central station, Rockefeller centre, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and Central Park.
- Washington DC's Pentagon, Georgetown, White House, Capitol and all monuments around the Mall.
- Philadelphia's Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and many places relating to the American revolutionaries.
- Boston's freedom trail and tea party site.
Memorable moments include my water taxi ride across to the airport in Boston, when I felt a bit like Beckham arriving at the Olympics, and me questioning my sanity after happening upon a second, unexpected, entrance to our hotel.
