I managed to book and get my hair cut despite my poor Japanese. Worryingly my phrase book only gave me translations for 'Please shave it all off' and 'Please use a new blade'. It was an interesting experience - I had to use a lot of actions to show what I wanted. Not sure I got what I wanted, but it will do. It is better than expected considering the hair salon I went to was called 'Ash Hair Make'! I had other choices of hair salons but their names were just as bad: 'Kamikaze', 'Gran Set Make', 'Will piccy', 'cut in Bob'.
The Japanese use a lot of English in imaginative ways:
The text on my hairdryer - 'It was so easy when having noticed take in freah and peaceful feeling to a life'.
On my toilet brush! - 'A colorful waffle design enables the coordination of I liking'.
The list is endless...
