Himeji and Osaka

Himeji + Osaka

I was a loner and went on my own to visit Himeji and Osaka!

Himeji castle is the most famous in Japan and is very beautiful. Osaka is not so beautiful, but was interesting to visit and very different from Tokyo. People seemed a lot more relaxed and less reserved and seemed to stare at me a lot more. One drunken guy even called 'Barbie'! This entertained me a lot! Don't worry I have not changed - I have not grown significantly taller, top heavy or stick thin. I think his vision was just seriously impaired by drinking!

In Osaka I went to the aquarium, apparently Japan's best. Personally I think Bangkok's aquarium is better. I also went to Osaka castle and a shrine.

On the train I was once again accosted by some Japanese women. They insisted that I try some of their Japanese food - I tried to say no, but it was useless. They are very offended if you refuse - I have tried. They also find it very funny if you try something and dislike it! I was just glad that they did not try to give me a food that looks like a slab of grey jelly - it is horrid! I don't think I have come across a Japanese woman on a train who has not tried to practice her English by talking to me!
